Since 1998, The Falls on the Colorado Museum has hosted the event in July because on July 12, 1887, town lots went on sale in Marble Falls, and a telegram sent from Burnet to an Austin newspaper on July 18, 1887, reported “3,000 people on the grounds and increasing” and “$30,000 worth of lots bid off on Tuesday, ranging in price from $75 up to $750.00 in price.” The Founding Fathers of Marble Falls were the owners of Texas Mining and Improvement Company, chartered in Burnet County on July 6, 1887: A.
