Noah Smithwick |
| Worked at Ft. Croghan in early 1850s, bought Mormon Mills when Mormons left, then moved to create mill on Hickory Creek in what is now Smithwick. Left for California in 1860 in advance of Civil War, wrote The Evolution of a State: Recollection of Old Texas Days in 1899, one of the definitive books about early Texas from late 1820s onward. Encountered Jesse Burnham and other notable Texas characters; much about early life of Marble Falls and area. |
Our Mission is to preserve our history, to further our heritage, to protect artifacts, and to provide an ongoing history of Marble Falls and the surrounding communities. |
