Photo Contest: Waterscapes of Central Texas

Submissions for the Waterscapes of Central Texas Photo Contest are now closed—thank you to everyone who shared their stunning images!
The exhibit is now open and ready for viewing at The Falls on the Colorado Museum. With a $5 donation, you’ll receive five tickets to vote for your favorite photos among the 50 incredible entries submitted by area photographers. Winning selections will be featured in our 2026 calendar, set to be published this fall. Come be part of the process and help us choose the best of Central Texas waterscapes!

2025 Photo Contest Rules 

  1. The Waterscapes of the Hill Country Photo Contest is now open for photo submissions. The deadline to submit photo entries is May 1st . Beginning May 5th through July 1st photographs will be on display for judging by the public.
  2. The theme of this contest is “Waterscapes of the Hill Country”. Eligible photograph entries shall include water of any kind but should be from the Hill Country. Photographs should not include any recognizable human subjects. Photos that include a recognizable person(s) will be disqualified.
  3. Photographers living in Burnet and surrounding counties are eligible to enter. Participants are allowed two entries per person. Photos taken by cell phones are acceptable.
  4. Photographs must be submitted both as a physical 8”x10” copy in landscape orientation and in digital format, also in landscape. Submit your digital photo here. Physical copies will be displayed in a museum exhibit so people can view and vote on them. Digital copies will be displayed on the museum website and may be posted on social media. Digital photographs must be at least 300 dpi resolution and 8” x 10” (or 2400x3000). There is a maximum of 4MB per image.
  5. All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and scene as it appeared. Photographs digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. No photoshopping.
  6. Participation in the contest requires the collection of your name and contact information. By entering this contest, you consent to the use of your name and contact information for further communications regarding this contest.
  7. The contestant certifies that he/she is the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photograph. 
  8. Contestants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules which are set by the museum and by the decision of the judge, which is final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
  9. You retain the rights to your photograph; however, by entering the contest, you grant The Falls on the Colorado Museum a royalty-free, perpetual license to publicly display, distribute and reproduce any submitted photographs. The Museum may select photos for highlighting on its website, display in an exhibition, and/or use in a product that will be sold in our bookstore.
  10. Winners will have their winning photograph(s) featured in the 2026 calendar and on the museum website. Each monthly winner will receive a free copy of the calendar. Winners will also receive one free ticket to the museum’s annual Christmas Home Tour in December.
  11. Winning photographs will be chosen by a judge and by public votes. The public votes will be collected at the museum. For a $5.00 donation to the museum, a person will receive five tickets to vote for photos of choice.
  12. To enter, please submit digital photographs and requested information online through our website here. You must complete a separate form for each photo submitted. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable.
  13. Physical 8”x10” copies must be submitted in person at the museum
