New to the Bookstore
Our newest book, Rockie: The Discovery, Excavation and Preservation of a Prehistoric Bison, Burnet County, Texas, is available for purchase at the museum.
This book is a compilation of studies about the bones of a 700-year-old bison known as Rockie, which are on permanent display in The Falls on the Colorado Museum. The skeleton was unearthed on Rocky Creek near Briggs in northeast Burnet County. Some of the bones were sent to various professionals in universities and labs across the U.S. for studies. Dr. Thomas R. Hester, Professor of Anthropology Emeritus at UT Austin and museum board member, combined their findings into a book that was self-published by the museum. |
