Animals & Wildflowers Photo Contest Rules
- The Animals & Wildflowers Photo Contest begins March 1 and ends May 31, 2024 at 5:00pm Central Standard Time. Late entries will not be accepted.
- The theme of this contest is Animals & Wildflowers.” Eligible photograph entries must include an animal(s) and wildflower(s). Photographs should not include any recognizable human subjects. Photos that include a recognizable person(s) will be disqualified.
- Photographers living in Burnet, Travis or Llano Counties are eligible to enter.
- Participants must be 12 years of age or older.
- Photographs must be submitted both as a physical 8”x10” copy and in a digital format. Physical copies will be displayed in a museum exhibit so people can view and vote on them, and winning entries will be featured in a calendar. Digital copies will be displayed on the museum website. Digital photographs must be at least 300 dpi resolution and 8” x 10” (or 2400x3000). There is a 4MB maximum per image. Photographs must be in landscape orientation.
- All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and scene as it appeared. Photographs digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
- Participants are allowed three entries per person.
- Participation in the contest requires the collection of your name and contact information. By entering this contest, you consent to the use of your name and contact information for further communications regarding this contest.
- The contestant certifies that he/she is the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photograph. Only the photographer is eligible to submit entries. Photographs cannot be submitted on behalf of someone else.
- Contestants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decision of the judges, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
- You retain the rights to your photograph; however, by entering the contest, you grant The Falls on the Colorado Museum a royalty-free, perpetual license to publicly display, distribute and reproduce any submitted photographs. The Museum may select photos for highlighting on its website, display in an exhibition, and use in our museum calendar and/or other merchandise. No monetary compensation of any kind will be provided for use of the photos.
Awards:
Award Categories: There will be two divisions: Members and Nonmembers. There will be six categories in each division: Bluebonnets, Pink/Red flowers, Orange flowers, Yellow flowers, Purple flowers, and White flowers. There will be 12 first place winners. Winners will have their winning photograph(s) featured in a calendar and on the museum website. Each winner will receive a free copy of the calendar. Winners will also receive one free ticket to the museum’s annual Christmas Home Tour in December. Winners will be chosen by a judging panel (50%) and popular vote (50%). The popular votes will be collected at the museum. For a $5.00 donation to the museum, a person will receive five tickets. These tickets can be used to vote for the photo or photos of choice. |
